Places Visited: Los Cabos, Mexico
On a recent visit to Los Cabos, I was able to visit three outstanding and unique properties. Each of them has a very special appeal, with “personalities” to suit different types of travellers.
Belonging to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, this hotel is decorated in regional Mexican motifs and contemporary architecture which creates that authentic Mexican home feel. This property takes care to point out that “casa” is not Spanish for “house,” but rather, for “home.”
Time slows down at Casa Natalia. This gracious, European style hotel is a serene oasis in the heart of historic San Jose del Cabo. Just past the front desk, you enter a secluded enclave
of palm trees, water falls and tropical flowers. You will think you have arrived in absolute paradise! The courtyard overlooks a quaint pool with hammocks a few steps away – a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon. The fourteen guestrooms and two spa suites are not assigned numbers like traditional hotels but rather, a name that suggests the essence of the rooms, Eclipse,” “Otomi,” and “Arbol de La Vida” to name a few. Each room features beautiful hand crafted wood furniture and has a private terrace shaded by bougainvillea and bamboo. Limestone-and-lava tables are found in the elegant restaurant and palapa lounge featuring Mexican-Euro cuisine and sophisticated libations.
Just outside of this gem, is the town square hosting some lovely little shops full of art and Mexican trinkets. Across from the hotel is the town square which hosts a variety of events. This hotel would make a fantastic, relaxing stop before heading to one of the beach resorts in Cabo San Lucas.
Zoetry Casa del Mar.
This boutique sanctuary for wellness has only 42 ultra-luxury, hacienda style suites and is just what the
doctor ordered! The Greek words meaning “life” and “poetry” inspired this resort to be called Zoetry – fully expressing The Art of Life. It boasts that it’s the world’s legendary celebrity playground for golfing, fishing and sun.
From the moment you arrive at the front gates, you can feel relaxation setting in. The emphasis on the holistic wellness treatments is very apparent with guests lounging in their spa robes and slippers in the peaceful lobby adorned with beautiful flowers. Guests can immerse themselves in the joys of the spa daily or other enrichment activities for your body and soul, including yoga, cooking classes, wine tasting, photography, dance lessons or a round of golf on a six championship celebrity golf course.
All suites are quite spacious with unique art fixtures, beautiful ocean views and private terraces. The culinaria includes Tapanco restaurant featuring a fusion of Mexican and Nouvelle Cuisine and Mezquite with grilled specialties served on the beach.
I feel in love with this beautiful resort the moment we arrived and will definitely be back!
Sandos Hotel Finisterra
This resort stretches along 7 miles of private beach on the Bay of Cabo San Lucas. This resort is in a great location directly across the entrance to the marina and a 5 minute walk to the heart of town .Built into a rock cliff and is known as an architectural landmark. The massive resort is surrounded with lush tropical gardens throughout. Take your walking shoes – everything is spread out on the property.
Rooms come with either a Pacific Ocean, bay or marina views. Overlooking the marina, you can see a ton of luxury yachts in the local harbour. The rooms are very spacious with all the up-to-date amenities and balconies. The junior suites are extremely nice and include a sunken living room area and a Jacuzzi tub.
Just steps away from the lobby, the Blue Marlin bar and restaurant has seen many celebrity guests such as Brooke Shields and Keith Roberts. A great place to relax.. With 3 spectacular pools, 3 lounges, 3 bars and 2 tennis courts, this is an absolutely fantastic place to be!
